- The Fuel Switching Project of the Aqaba Thermal Power Station
The Fuel Switching Project of the Aqaba Thermal Power Station, developed by Central Electricity Generating Company, is an energy industries (renewable/non-renewable sources under the Kyoto Protocol) project in Aqaba, the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.
The project has been set up at Aqaba Thermal Power Station, approximately 16 kilometers south of Aqaba. The project has implemented a fuel switch for the power station boilers from Heavy Fuel Oil (HFO) to Natural Gas (NG). The fuel is burned to create steam that drives turbines that rotate magnets within generators, creating electrical energy. This fuel switch technology is common throughout the world, but relatively new to Jordan. The fuel switch was completed in 2004, and ATPS has been running on NG imported via a submarine pipeline (under the Gulf of Aqaba) from Egypt. The primary reason for the fuel switch was to reduce pollution caused by the high sulphur content of HFO, a “rotten egg” aroma was common before the fuel switch, and has since been averted.
The environmental benefits of the fuel switch project are:
• Reduced CO2, SO2, NOx, and suspended particulate matter with    associated aromas;
• Reduced negative impact in the area since high sulphur content (3.6%) HFO is only used as a back-up fuel;
• Smokestack output is no longer colored, but transparent – no more visual pollution;
• Acts as a clean technology demonstration project;
• Reduced impact on Gulf of Aqaba, since the Gulf’s water that is used for cooling is now cycled back at a reduced temperature;
• Good publicity and setting of an example in the region;
• Reduced shipping/trucking of HFO (with related traffic and pollution);
• Mitigation of climate change due to the reduction of CO2.

- Jordan Climate change Consultancy Company makes many feasibility studies in the following sectors:

1. Feasibility study for biodiesil production by cultivation Jatropha plant in Jordanian deserts.

Main project features: A recent rise witnessed by Jordan in the prices of oil and gas need to search for alternative sources of conventional energy, the price of diesel rose by about 43%.
And the studies found that the plant jatropha contain a large proportion of the oil which can be used for energy production, which found that the seed contains 35-40% according to the season of maturity, and the proportion of saturated fats to 20% and 79% saturated others
We can brief the project justification by:

1-There is a demand and increasing alternative energy sources and environmentally safe, especially after the rise in fuel prices as well as a growing demand for bio-energy
2 - is still investing in this sector, the focus of many citizens.
3-Creating a good investment opportunities and create new jobs in the community.
4-exploitation of the Jordanian Badia
5-improving vegetation amongst rural Jordan.
6-minimizing environmental impacts result of the wars in the region, which increased in the deteriorating environmental situation in the Jordanian desert areas.

2. A preliminary feasibility study Project for the manufacture of fermentation of animal waste for bio-gas extraction
Main project features: increasing population and rising standard of living and industrial and agricultural progress and the absence of appropriate collection, transport and processing of solid waste have been increased dramatically the amount of waste and therefore pollution of land, water, air and depletion of natural resources .
The advancement of civilization and the interest in the preservation of the environment from pollution make us return to organic agriculture and the exploitation of natural resources to produce energy for the production of agricultural products with international competitiveness following the advanced, clean and cheap technologies.
The estimated agricultural organic waste in Jordan generated by agricultural production (plant, animal and food processing operations) is estimated at 854 thousand tons.
These systems are characterized by being run on all the fermentation of organic material inside the reactor and thus about 800 times faster from the fermentation compared with landfill gas generated within the system (of withdrawal) and that all the organic waste entering the plant to become fully organic fertilizers and biogas, and there was no need for a landfill and transport. The technology of biogas production commensurate with the expertise and technology with local resources located in Jordan and can be used at low cost and simple means of technological. After the production of gas good organic fertilizer will be produced, rich in its content of organic matter and fertilizer elements, with suitable quantities for plants, also it contains plant hormones, vitamins and growth regulators, as well as being free of pathogenic bacteria, larvae and weed seeds, which will be perish during the fermentation of organic waste, so this will make it a clean fertilizer does not contaminate the environment, and has no risk when used as fertilizer in all crops. The construction of generating units of biogas can be adapted to the needs of any community (city, town, and village) regardless of the degree of development

3. Feasibility study Project for electricity generation by wind energy of 5 MW.

Main project features: The project depends on electricity generation by wind energy of 5 MW.
Wind energy development has been thriving around the world. This reflects not only the declining cost of the resource and the improved performance of wind power plants, but also a growing awareness among utilities and other potential customers that this renewable energy technology offers many benefits for the economy and the environment.
• Wind energy can help create new business and jobs, keep energy in local economies and reduce reliance on imported energy.
• Wind energy can help protect utilities and ratepayers from risks associated with changing fuel prices, new environmental regulations, uncertain load growth and other unpredictable costs.
• Wind energy can reduce a utility's pollutant emissions, helping power companies meet environmental regulations and satisfy their customers' desire for clean power sources.
Jordan is importing 95% of its energy consumption; this project will be a step in the way of finding some renewable resources of energy in Jordan.
This project will be developed to achieve 3 main goals
• This project is a feasible project from economic side, so this business is considered as sustainable development project with very attractive pay back period and high IRR which encourage investors to invest in.
• This project will help in finding new job vacancies for qualified engineers, technicians, and workers.
• Protect environment from pollution
